New Life Minority Human Rights Council Promotes Free HEAP Cooling Assistance Program for Vulnerable Families

Low-income households, seniors, and individuals with disabilities may qualify for free air conditioners, fans, and installation assistance

NEW YORK: New Life Minority Human Rights Council Inc. has launched an awareness campaign encouraging eligible residents to apply for the Free HEAP Cooling Assistance Program as temperatures rise during the summer season.
According to the organization, the program is designed to help low-income families, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities stay safe and comfortable during periods of extreme heat. Eligible applicants may receive a free air conditioner or fan, and in certain cases, installation assistance may also be available.
The council stated that seniors aged 60 and above, low-income households, and residents with disabilities are among those who may qualify for assistance. Applicants are generally required to provide a photo ID, proof of income, a utility bill, and SNAP or Medicaid information when applicable.
In addition to helping residents access benefits, New Life Minority Human Rights Council is offering assistance with completing applications, uploading documents, verifying eligibility, and providing language support in both Urdu and English.
