Council Member Mercedes Narcisse Announces $1.049 Million Funding for New Playground at P.S. 203

NEW YORK: PS 203 is set to receive a new and renovated playground following the allocation of $1,049,000 in city funding secured through this year’s city budget for long-awaited improvements to the school’s playground facilities.
The funding was formally presented on October 6, 2026, to Principal Brian Sadowski and members of the PS 203 school community during a visit to the school. The allocation, supported by City Council Member Mercedes Narcisse of the 46th Council District, was designated for the development and renovation of the school’s playground.
The investment was welcomed by the school community as an important step toward addressing the long-standing need for improved recreational facilities. The planned renovations were expected to provide students with a more modern, safe and enjoyable outdoor space for play, physical activity and recreation.
City Council Member Mercedes Narcisse expressed satisfaction at securing the $1.049 million allocation through the city budget and said she looked forward to seeing students enjoy the newly renovated playground once the project was completed.
The funding represented a significant investment in the school’s facilities and was expected to enhance the overall school environment by giving students greater opportunities to participate in outdoor activities.
