NY Minority Women Foundation and APPAC Successfully Organized a Five-Week Free Multisports Summer Camp for Youth in Long Beach
Children Aged 8–16 Received Free Training in Tennis, Pickleball, Table Tennis, Fitness, Complimentary Lunch; First Week Celebrated as a Great Success, Sponsors and Volunteers Appreciated, and Sanyaa Naeem Honored for Community Service
LONG BEACH, NEW YORK: The New York Minority Women Foundation (NYMWF), in collaboration with the American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC), successfully organized a five-week Free Multisports Summer Camp for children and teenagers in Long Beach, New York. The program, which ran from July 20 through August 20, 2026, was designed to promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship among children between the ages of 8 and 16.
The camp was held at the Long Beach Tennis Center, located at 899 Monroe Boulevard, Long Beach, NY 11561, where activities took place daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout the five-week program.
Participants received professional instruction in tennis, pickleball, table tennis, and fitness training completely free of charge. In addition, all registered campers were provided with complimentary lunch, ensuring that every child enjoyed a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment while participating in the program.
According to the organizers, the primary objective of the camp was to encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles while developing discipline, self-confidence, leadership skills, and teamwork. They emphasized that community-based initiatives such as this provide equal opportunities for children from diverse social and economic backgrounds, contributing not only to their physical well-being but also to their personal and social development.
The successful completion of the first week was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the organizers. They reported that participants had received hands-on training in tennis, pickleball, and table tennis, while also taking part in engaging team-building activities that strengthened confidence, friendships, cooperation, and sportsmanship. Coaches, volunteers, organizers, and participants described the opening week as an outstanding success and expressed excitement for the weeks ahead.
The organizers also extended their sincere appreciation to Sling, the proud sponsor of the camp, for providing thoughtful gifts to every participant. They further thanked the parents who shared encouraging messages and words of appreciation, stating that the overwhelming support and trust from families had strengthened the team’s commitment to serving the youth and the community.
They added that the remaining weeks of the camp would continue to focus on inspiring, empowering, and helping young participants grow both on and off the court, while equipping them with valuable life skills that would benefit them far beyond sports.
The camp received an overwhelming response from the community, and because of the limited number of available spaces, families were encouraged to complete their registrations as early as possible. Registration and participant coordination were managed by Sanyaa Naeem, Rehana Makin, Ali Malik, and Dr. Sadia Tahir, who worked closely with parents and ensured the smooth operation of the program.
During the event, community leader Sanyaa Naeem was also recognized for her outstanding dedication to community service. The Khawaja Family presented her with a heartfelt handwritten message of appreciation, stating, “Thank you for bringing the community together. Your services to the community are much appreciated.” The message reflected the admiration and respect she had earned through her unwavering commitment to community welfare and public service.
Community leaders noted that Sanyaa Naeem had played a significant role in organizing community initiatives, fostering unity, and creating opportunities that brought people from diverse backgrounds together. Her leadership, volunteerism, and dedication had positively impacted numerous families while inspiring young people to become actively involved in community service.
Community leaders concluded by praising the collaborative efforts of the New York Minority Women Foundation and APPAC, describing the camp as an outstanding example of empowering youth, strengthening families, and promoting community engagement. They stated that the successful Free Multisports Summer Camp had become a model for encouraging healthy living, inclusion, leadership development, and preparing future community leaders within the Pakistani-American community and the broader New York region.
