UA3 “Organised Mega Food Distribution With EV Clean Energy & Commercial Refrigeration”

NEW YORK : A community food distribution event focused on sustainability and modern logistics was held in New York City on April 9, 2026, bringing together local officials, nonprofit organizations, and residents in need.

Organized by UA3 Feeds NYC, the event took place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 72 Columbia Street in Manhattan. The initiative combined food relief efforts with environmentally conscious practices, utilizing electric vehicle (EV) clean energy and commercial refrigeration systems to distribute perishable goods efficiently while reducing environmental impact.

The event operated on a first-come, first-served basis, with supplies available to community members while they lasted. Dozens of residents gathered early, forming lines ahead of the scheduled start time, reflecting the ongoing demand for food assistance across the city.

Key public officials were acknowledged for their support of the initiative, including New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, both of whom were credited with helping secure new trucks used in the distribution effort. These vehicles, equipped with advanced refrigeration and powered by cleaner energy sources, were highlighted as a step forward in modernizing food aid infrastructure.

The event was organized in collaboration with several local groups, including the Camille Tenant Association at Baruch Housing, Henry Street Settlement, and Grand St. Settlement. These organizations played a crucial role in outreach, coordination, and on-the-ground support during the distribution.

Additional elected officials were also recognized for their contributions and support, including Congressman Dan Goldman, State Senator Brian Kavanagh, Assembly Members Grace Lee, Keith Powers, William Colton, and Lester Chang, as well as City Council Members Christopher Marte, Harvey Epstein, and Susan Zhuang.

Organizers emphasized that the integration of EV technology and commercial refrigeration not only improved the quality and safety of food distribution but also aligned with broader city goals to reduce carbon emissions. The event was seen as a model for future initiatives aiming to combine social services with sustainable innovation.

By the end of the afternoon, supplies had been largely distributed, and organizers described the event as a success, noting both strong community turnout and the effective deployment of new equipment. The initiative underscored the importance of partnerships between government leaders, nonprofit organizations, and local communities in addressing food insecurity while advancing environmental responsibility.

Community First Food Pantry

Our Community First Food Pantry was started as a response to the pandemic to address food insecurity in New York City. We provide fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate food, as well as PPEs to our community members in need, regardless of their income, background, or circumstances. We also offer programs such as nutrition education, cooking classes, youth leadership development opportunities as well as referrals to other resources that can help our clients achieve greater wellbeing. Our Food Pantry is more than just a place to receive food; it is a community of caring and compassion that welcomes everyone with dignity and respect
