The Bridge Organized Historical United Interfaith Celebration

A unique interfaith gathering that brought together people of different religious traditions was held on March 15 at The Bridge Multicultural & Advocacy Project in Brooklyn. The event, titled United Interfaith Celebration, honored three major religious observances—Ramadan, Passover, and Easter—which fell during the same season this year.

The celebration took place at The Bridge MCP and brought together members of diverse faiths to jointly observe the sacred occasions. Community leaders, faith representatives, and local residents attended the gathering to promote understanding, unity, and harmony among different cultures and religions.Organized by The Bridge Multicultural & Advocacy Project, the program aimed to strengthen mutual respect and dialogue among followers of different faiths.

The event began at 6:00 p.m. and featured a variety of cultural and spiritual activities designed to highlight shared human values.

The evening included religious readings, reflections, and prayers representing different traditions, emphasizing values such as peace, compassion, and cooperation. Speakers highlighted the significance of the three sacred observances and encouraged participants to embrace diversity while strengthening community ties in a multicultural society.

Guests were also served a special meal prepared according to both kosher and halal dietary traditions, symbolizing inclusiveness and respect for religious practices. Organizers said the shared meal allowed participants from diverse backgrounds to interact, learn from one another, and celebrate their traditions together.

The event was honored by the presence of Yusef Salaam, who attended as the guest speaker. Salaam, who serves as Chair of the Committee to Combat Hate, addressed the audience and spoke about the importance of standing together against intolerance and promoting unity among communities of different backgrounds. He praised initiatives that encourage interfaith cooperation and said such gatherings help build stronger and more inclusive neighborhoods.

Community organizer Mark M. Appel said the event was designed to build bridges among cultures and faiths in a city known for its diversity. He noted that Brooklyn’s multicultural environment made it an ideal place for such gatherings and expressed hope that the celebration would inspire continued dialogue and cooperation among communities.

Organizers said the purpose of the celebration was to create a welcoming space where people from different faith traditions could come together to share their customs, learn from one another, and strengthen the spirit of unity. Attendees described the program as a meaningful opportunity to celebrate diversity while recognizing the common values that unite people of all faiths.

The event concluded with community interaction and expressions of appreciation for efforts promoting peace and interfaith harmony among the diverse communities of New York City.

یہ تقریب دی برج ایم سی پی میں منعقد ہوئی جس میں مختلف مذاہب سے تعلق رکھنے والے افراد نے شرکت کی اور ان مقدس مواقع کو مشترکہ طور پر منایا۔ اس موقع پر کمیونٹی رہنماؤں، مذہبی نمائندوں اور مقامی رہائشیوں نے شرکت کی تاکہ مختلف ثقافتوں اور مذاہب کے درمیان باہمی سمجھ بوجھ، اتحاد اور ہم آہنگی کو فروغ دیا جا سکے۔

اس پروگرام کا انعقاد دی برج ملٹی کلچرل اینڈ ایڈووکیسی پراجیکٹ نے کیا جس کا مقصد مختلف مذاہب کے ماننے والوں کے درمیان باہمی احترام اور مکالمے کو مضبوط بنانا تھا۔

اس تقریب میں مہمانِ خصوصی کے طور پر یوسف سلام نے شرکت کی، جو کمیٹی ٹو کامبیٹ ہیٹ کے چیئرمین بھی ہیں۔ اپنے خطاب میں انہوں نے مختلف پس منظر رکھنے والی کمیونٹیز کے درمیان اتحاد اور برداشت کو فروغ دینے کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی کو فروغ دینے والی ایسی تقریبات کو سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس طرح کے اجتماعات کمیونٹیز کی تعمیر میں مددگار ثابت ہوتے ہیں۔

کمیونٹی آرگنائزر مارک ایم اپیل نے کہا کہ اس تقریب کا مقصد مختلف ثقافتوں اور مذاہب کے درمیان پل تعمیر کرنا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ بروکلین کا کثیر الثقافتی ماحول ایسی تقریبات کے لیے نہایت موزوں ہے اور امید ظاہر کی کہ یہ جشن مستقبل میں بھی مختلف کمیونٹیز کے درمیان مکالمے اور تعاون کو فروغ دے گا۔

تقریب کے اختتام پر شرکاء نے آپس میں ملاقات اور گفتگو کی اور نیویارک شہر کی متنوع کمیونٹیز کے درمیان امن اور بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی کے فروغ کی کوششوں کو سراہا۔
