Pakistan urges ceasefire, intensifies diplomatic outreach for Middle East peace

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday reiterated its call for de-escalation in the region, stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire while highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote peace.

During a press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that Pakistan is actively engaged in diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East, with continuous progress being made through high-level contacts.

He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been in regular communication with global leaders. This includes detailed discussions with the Saudi Crown Prince as well as exchanges with the president of Iran on the evolving situation.Pakistan has also expanded its diplomatic engagement with several countries, including Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan, alongside outreach to leaders in Lebanon, Egypt, and Bangladesh.

The spokesperson added that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is also playing an active role in maintaining regional diplomatic coordination. Pakistan, he said, continues to advocate strongly for peace and stability.

He further condemned violence targeting civilians, including attacks on places of worship, women, and children. Expressing concern over developments in Srinagar, he criticized the closure of the historic Jamia Masjid, calling it deeply troubling.The Foreign Office also urged India to uphold fundamental human rights, emphasizing the importance of protecting civil liberties in the region.
