Subject: Urgent Attention Towards Incarcerated Kashmiri Leader Yasin Malik.
Excellency, I’m writing to bring to your attention the critical situation of Yasin Malik, the most popular public leader of the entire and divided but disputed State of Jammu Kashmir.
Yasin Malik is the Chairman of the Pro-Independence political organisation, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). He has been illegally detained by Indian authorities and put in solitary confinement since February 2019 in infamous Tihar Jail, New Delhi India. He was defencelessly and unjustly sentenced to life imprisonment in politically motivated cases filed against him on the directions of extremist Modi government of India who is hellbent upon to send him to gallows.
Excellency, the prisoner of conscience Mr. Yasin Malik is the worst victim of political vendetta and even today he is being denied proper medical treatment in jail. His health condition has deteriorated to an alarming level for he being the patient of multiple ailments that includes heart and kidneys.
Excellent, he is continously being denied physical presence in the court of law to defend himself, and instead online court hearings with poor internet connectivity deprives him to examine the witnesses or plead his case to his satisfaction.
As a prisoner of conscience, Mr. Malik’s imprisonment violates his basic human rights, as defined by Amnesty International.
Excellency, I respectfully request your intervention to ensure Mr. Malik receives a fair trial and proper medical treatment, as per UN Charter and Human Rights Commission guidelines.
Excellency, I urge you to take necessary action to impress upon both India and Pakistan to end gross human rights violations and to safeguard the well-being of people respectively in parts of Jammu Kashmir under their control.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Mohammad Haleem Khan
President,
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front.North America.
