Council Member Mercedes Narcisse DeliversBIG VICTORIES FY 26 NYC BUDGET

The City Council Unanimously Passed the $115.9 Billion FY26 Budget. It included big victories for District 46 and all of NYC.
Highlights for District 46 Include:
- $500,000 – Canarsie Community Center feasibility study.
- $1 million – Phase 2 of sidewalk repairs around Marine Park in Gerritsen Beach, bringing the combined total of FY25 and FY26 allocations to $1.9 million.
- $3.3 million – Create a Community Urban Farm at Floyd Bennett Field.
- $5.5 million – Athletic Field Renovations at South Shore High School.
- $1.5 million – Science Lab at the HS for Medical Professions.
- $1.6 million – Expansion of the Emergency Department at Brookdale Hospital.
Upgrades for local schools, including:
- $500,000 – PS 1115 gym
- $500,000 – PS 207, Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade
- PA system upgrade at PS 222
- Technology investments for PS 203, PS 276, PS 279, and IS 78
- Music band room upgrade at PS 312
Expense Funding for Community Support:
- Over $500,000 to Millennium Development to provide youth and senior programming.
- $190,000 to ACE for supplemental sanitation services to keep neighborhoods clean.
- $500,000 to the District 22 Carol Pini Learning Farm for operational expenses, bringing Council Member Narcisse’s total allocation (FY25 & FY26) for the farm to $1 million.
- $90,000 to the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) for targeted litter patrols and illegal dumping enforcement in District 46.
- $75,000 to the Jewish Community Council of Canarsie to support vital social services.
- $35,000 to the Hendrick I. Lott House for preservation and programming.
- $20,000 to the Marine Park Alliance to continue public programming and stewardship.
- $15,000 to the Gerritsen Beach Fire Department to support operations.
- Successfully advocated for $2,000,000 to Haitian Studies Institute – Brooklyn College
