In a recent development, Bobby Kennedy has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting research and developing solutions for Lyme disease, working closely with Duvi Honig of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce’s Life for Lyme organization. This partnership has already made a significant impact, helping over 26,000 Jewish families facing tick-borne infections. On Thursday, Kennedy expressed his unwavering support for research into Lyme disease, emphasizing the importance of addressing this potentially lifelong illness caused by bacteria transmitted through tick bites.
Lyme disease drew considerable attention during Senate hearings, particularly following Kennedy’s controversial remarks on a podcast suggesting it might have originated as a military bioweapon. In an effort to clarify his stance, Kennedy assured Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, that he is a strong proponent of advancing research, specifically highlighting his dedication to developing a vaccine or effective treatments for Lyme disease.
“I’ve had Lyme disease,” Kennedy shared, emphasizing his personal connection to the cause. “There’s nobody who will fight harder to find a vaccine or a treatment for Lyme disease than me.”
Moreover, the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce is actively reaching out to Senator Andy Kim to bolster support for Kennedy’s initiatives. The goal is to assist New Jersey residents in overcoming the Lyme disease epidemic, which burdens the community and the state with substantial healthcare costs.
Lyme disease currently affects hundreds of thousands in New Jersey, necessitating improved medical insurance coverage for those with chronic conditions. The Chamber’s efforts aim to secure Senator Kim’s backing in updating CDC guidelines and providing much-needed support for those enduring prolonged battles with Lyme disease.
In light of these challenges, the Chamber urges community members to contact Senator Andy Kim, encouraging him to support Kennedy’s nomination and take definitive steps towards resolving this pressing health crisis. The combined efforts of Bobby Kennedy, Duvi Honig, and the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce represent a significant stride forward in combating
Lyme disease and supporting affected families.
