Grant Part of a Historic $30 Million Investment for AAPI Communities Across New York
Huntington, NY (Report Manzoor Hussain) : In a significant boost to community development efforts, the New York State Assembly Asian Pacific American (APA) Task Force Chair, Assemblymember Grace Lee, together with Assemblymember Steve Stern, announced a $10,000 state grant for the Pakistani Americans of the Town of Huntington (PATH). The grant recognizes PATH’s expanding contributions to cultural enrichment, community support, and social services for Pakistani American residents. This funding comes as part of an unprecedented $30 million statewide investment in Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities under the FY 2025–26 State Budget. It marks the third consecutive year in which the APA Task Force has secured major financial support aimed at strengthening AAPI-led organizations across New York. Assemblymember Grace Lee highlighted the long-standing disparities in budget allocations for AAPI communities. “For too long, the AAPI community has been underfunded and overlooked in the state budget. This year, as Chair of the APA Task Force, I’m proud to have helped secure $30 million in funding for Asian American organizations, including this grant for PATH. With this funding, PATH can continue their critical work providing resources and services to Pakistani American families in Huntington,” she said.Assemblymember Steve Stern praised PATH for its vital role in building bridges between diverse communities. “As the state representative of this community and a member of the APA Task Force, I am proud to present this legislative grant to PATH. The organization plays a vital role in promoting acceptance, cultural understanding, and unity across Huntington. This funding will allow PATH to broaden its outreach and deepen its impact,” Stern said. PATH’s Growing Role in Community Service Over the years, PATH has emerged as a trusted institution supporting local residents through cultural programs, assistance to vulnerable families, and community-building initiatives. The organization regularly organizes soup kitchens, provides essential resources to those in financial difficulty, and fosters meaningful connections among Huntington’s diverse residents. PATH President Muhammad Ashraf expressed heartfelt appreciation for the state’s investment. “This critically important grant will help PATH expand its services and offer even more culturally responsive programs to the Huntington community. We are grateful to Chairwoman Grace Lee, Assemblymember Steve Stern, and the entire APA Task Force for recognizing our mission and supporting AAPI residents through this meaningful contribution,” he said.A Step Toward Stronger Multicultural Unity Community leaders and residents have welcomed the funding as a timely and impactful investment in strengthening multicultural engagement, education, and social welfare efforts. The grant is expected to enhance PATH’s current programs and enable the launch of new initiatives designed to uplift the Pakistani American community while advancing diversity and unity across Huntington. With this support, PATH is well-positioned to broaden its footprint and continue contributing to the vibrant cultural fabric of the town.
